By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES, CA - Aidil Harith has joined Samuel Hadida-produced "Silent Hill" based on the Konami video game series which is now acquired by Focus Features for international sales rights. Roger Avary wrote the screenplay with Christophe Gans on board to direct. Gans has an update for us on the Silent Hill feature film.

First thing, Silent Hill is totally way different than Resident Evil. It's focused more on horror; we want suspense, we want bone-chilling, we want gore, we want everything which defines horror. It won't be like Resident Evil movies which has more action than horror. It's gotta be like Exorcist, Omen....this kind of scary flicks are what defines Silent Hill.

About the script, I haven't read anything yet but Samuel Hadida is penning on it. I am sure he's the right man for the job and I know he will do great with the script. Perhaps by March, the script would be completed.

Currently, we have Christina Ricci, Shannon Elizabeth and Aidil Harith on board. We are still hunting for more potential actors. Time will tell, don't worry. I will inform you personally once we have all the casts we want.

Asking about the best person to play the "Maria" : "I would love to see Julia Hanson for that. She has everything which resembles Maria from the Silent Hill 3 Game. She's currently the studio's fave. She has not signed on for the role yet."

Hadida's Davis Film Prods. is producing in association with Konami Corp. Sales will begin next week at the American Film Market. Hadida's Metropolitan Filmexport will release in France, and a North American distributor is expected to be announced shortly. The film revolves around a mother and daughter's quest to discover the secrets of the seemingly abandoned town of Silent Hill. Production has been fast-tracked for a May start.

Silent Hill is tentatively scheduled for a 2006 release world wide.

Fans Can expect much more of this when more news becomes available.
